This Account Deletion & Data Erasure Policy outlines the rights of users (“Data Subjects”) of GidiProperty.com and the obligations of GidiProperty Ltd (“we,” “us,” or “our”) regarding the deletion, retention, and processing of personal data, in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR).
Under Article 17 of the GDPR and Part 2.9 of the NDPR, users have the right to request the deletion of their personal data where:
The personal data is no longer necessary for the purposes for which it was collected or processed.
The user withdraws consent on which the processing is based.
The user objects to the processing and there are no overriding legitimate grounds for continued processing.
The personal data has been unlawfully processed.
Erasure is required to comply with a legal obligation.
GidiProperty.com will honor valid erasure requests except where retention is legally required.
Users may submit an account deletion or data erasure request through the following channels:
Log in to your GidiProperty.com account.
Navigate to Account Settings → Delete Account.
Follow the on-screen instructions to submit a deletion request.

The request must contain:
Full name
Registered email address
Verification information reasonably necessary to confirm your identity
We may request additional identity verification in order to prevent unauthorized deletion requests.
Upon receipt of a valid request:
We will acknowledge the request within 72 hours.
The deletion process will be completed within 7–30 calendar days, depending on data complexity.
All personal data associated with the account will be permanently erased or anonymized, except data retained under lawful exceptions.
Users will receive a confirmation email once deletion is completed.
Subject to legal requirements, the following data categories will be deleted or anonymized:
Account profile information
Contact details
Saved searches, preferences, and alerts
User-generated content (e.g., listings), unless anonymization is legally or operationally required
Internal analytics linked to the user’s identity
Communication logs within the platform, where permissible
All deletion processes follow industry-standard security practices.
Under GDPR (Art. 17(3)) and NDPR, GidiProperty.com may retain certain personal data where retention is necessary:
For compliance with tax, accounting, or auditing obligations
For the establishment, exercise, or defense of legal claims
To investigate fraud, security incidents, or misuse of our platform
To comply with regulatory requirements
For transactional history related to property listings, payments, or disputes
All retained data will be stored securely and will not be used for marketing, profiling, or non-essential processing.
Once the deletion process is completed:
Access to the user’s account will be permanently disabled.
The user will lose access to all data, listings, messages, and saved preferences.
Deleted accounts cannot be restored.
Users may create a new account at any time.
Where personal data has been shared with authorized third-party processors (e.g., payment providers, analytics services), GidiProperty.com will:
Notify those processors of the user’s deletion request, and
Ensure erasure or anonymization in accordance with contractual and regulatory obligations.
